Frank Eder

CEO, CIO & Co-Founder

Mr. Eder has two decades of real estate investment experience. He founded Newport Coast Capital Management (now NCCG) in 1997 while attending the Harvard Business School after a successful career working at Fortune 500 companies and in private equity. Having acted as a principle investor for two decades, he is an accomplished manager, operator, and transaction specialist with several private investments reaching realized and unrealized returns in excess of 100% IRR and attaining a 65% IRR with institutional investor, ING.

Mr. Eder’s primary role is to maximize ROI for limited partners. As the Chief Executive Officer and Chief Investment Officer, he focuses on the identification, execution, and exit strategy of strategic investments, as well as building cohesive teams for various investments and investment theses under investigation. He is widely respected for his thought leadership, broad expertise and solid reputation of sound investment decisions.

He has repeatedly demonstrated success in identifying profitable asset classes and geographies to enter early based upon market inefficiencies, and then exit in a timely fashion. His clients and partners benefit from his unique ability to quickly gain expertise in new asset classes and geographies, as well as his prior operating experience as an engineer, marketer, construction manager, and developer.
From 2010 to the end of 2012, Mr. Eder worked as an advisor, Portfolio Manager and Senior Vice President, and later as Head of Residential Loan and Real Estate Activities at Neuberger Berman Fixed Income, LLC, a division of the Neuberger Berman Group with almost $200 billion in assets under management. At Neuberger, Frank conceived of, structured, built and scaled a residential distressed debt platform.  He led the acquisition, due diligence, servicer oversight/asset management, and portfolio management teams for residential whole loans purchased from major US banks.

Mr. Eder has worked in almost every major area of business either in the Fortune 500, through participation in private equity transactions, and as a principle real estate investor with institutional partners like ING. He has developed expertise in senior executive management, marketing and sales management, financial management, operations management, manufacturing, engineering, and research and development. In addition, he has investment experience in apartments, apartment to condominium conversions, land, high-end residential, resort, hotel, winery, commercial and industrial investments.

Mr. Eder’s diverse background and depth of experience affords him a balanced insight on real estate investment and execution that is highly beneficial in this current real estate investment environment.

Kim Bauer

VP Marketing, Design, Sales

In 1991, Ms. Bauer founded and managed a marketing firm, B&A Marketing which offered a full range of marketing, brand strategy, and management consulting services. The firm’s clients were primarily from the healthcare, high-tech, consumer products, financial services and home building industries. Clients included Acer Computers, Baxter Healthcare, Beckman Coulter, Behr Paints, Daimler Benz, Gateway Computers, OEC Medical Systems, Toshiba Medical Systems, Toshiba Computers, Taylor Woodrow Homes, William Lyon Homes, and Warmington Homes. Her agency won over 30 major awards for the campaigns it created.

In 1998, Ms. Bauer joined forces with Frank Eder to provide marketing and branding services for various development projects of Newport Coast Capital Management. Ms. Bauer plays an integral role in the entire development process including acquisitions, market research, product development, interior design, marketing, branding and sales.

As a creative visionary, experienced entrepreneur, principle investor, and business strategist, Ms. Bauer has a unique ability to pin-point consumer mindset, then shape finished environments and real estate developments that push the limits of market pricing. This results in significant ROI for investors. She is highly respected for her ability to build and manage strong teams of specialists who make this happen.

Ms. Bauer received a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Graphic Design at the University of Illinois and attended the Owner’s and President’s Management Program at the Harvard Business School. In addition, she was a founding member of the Orange County Chapter of the Young Entreprenuer’s Organization and is currently the Orange County Chapter President of WRS, a women’s networking group.

Egan Park

Head of Analytics

Mr. Park is the Head of Analytics and has over 10 years of residential mortgage and real estate finance experience. Prior to joining the company, he was the vice president of Analytics at Arch Bay Capital, a real estate and residential mortgage investment fund, managing over $2 billion of non-performing loans, re-performing loans, and real estate assets. At Arch Bay Capital, Mr. Park underwrote $50 billion worth of real estate and residential mortgage pools and securitized $300 million of residential mortgage loans and real estate assets. Mr. Park was previously with Countrywide Securities Corporation working on the trading floor in structured finance underwriting the origination of over 50 mortgage-backed securities totaling over $45 billion.

He holds a bachelor’s degree in economics from the University of Michigan and a master’s degree in management information systems from the University of Arizona.

Mike Mossman

Head of Acquisitions

Michael serves as Head of Acquisitions. His responsibilities include the management and execution of acquiring, valuing, and purchasing investment properties. For the last five years he has co-managed a team that has valued well in excess of 20,000 homes and been responsible for purchasing, managing, and selling/leasing over 1000 homes since 2009. His experience in the construction, architecture, and real estate development fields provides the team with a well-rounded perspective on investment projects.

Mr. Mossman holds a Master of Business Administration degree as well as a Bachelor of Science degree in Construction Management from California Polytechnic State University San Luis Obispo.

Bill O’Neal

Brand Strategy and Market Research

Bill is known in professional circles as “brand-man” due to his extensive experience in brand strategy for major corporations. He puts this experience to work for NCCG to help maximize return on investment. Areas of contribution include defining market segmentation strategy, determining the value proposition for a property, conducting primary and secondary market research, and developing plans to reposition properties for sale.

Over the years, Mr. O’Neal has helped build dozens of consumer and business-to-business brands including Agfa, Bayer, Beckman Coulter, Blue Cross, Duracell, Intel, Lipton, Philips, Textron, 3M, Toyota, the state of Connecticut and the U.S. Postal Service. Along the way, he has been responsible for marketing, branding and promoting a wide range of products and services—from healthcare to high-tech electronics, film to financial products, cars to computer graphics.

Mr. O’Neal is a veteran of the Fortune 500 (Bendix and Time-Life) and Madison Avenue (Young & Rubicam and D’Arcy Masius Benton & Bowles). He has owned his own agencies as well. He built his last agency, O’Neal & Prelle into the 14th largest agency in the Northeast before selling it in 1993 to pursue a career as a marketing and brand consultant.

Mr. O’Neal has a Bachelor of Science degree from Purdue University and an MBA from the University of Michigan. He is a member of the American Marketing Association, the Direct Marketing Association, and has been included in “Who’s Who in Advertising.” He is a frequent speaker on the importance of understanding customer perceptions and expectations in today’s marketing environment.

Bill Quinn

Director of Quality Control

In 1999, Mr. Quinn assumed the position of Project Manager for NCCM and has actively managed projects in Boston, Chicago and Southern California since that time. He has been involved in construction projects with Mr. Eder since 1995.

Mr. Quinn assists in the preliminary assessment of construction costs, renovation requirements and potential construction obstacles. He has served as on-site job supervisor managing the activities of subcontractors, building inspectors, project consultants and visiting sales brokers and lenders. He helps source materials, stocks the job and is responsible for meeting construction timelines, quality objectives and budgets. Bill possesses best in class people skills and a keen eye for quality.

With Newport Coast Capital Management Mr. Quinn has managed a variety of construction projects including major renovations of historic estate properties, conversion of apartment buildings into condominiums, and high-end luxury estates. He has extensive experience in most aspects of construction management and home building.

From 1979 – 1998, Mr. Quinn was Superintendent and Working Foreman for Pollendine Enterprises, one of Southern California’s premier custom home builders. The homes developed by Pollendine Enterprises ranged from 5,000 – 11,000 square feet and construction costs ranged from $200 – $450 per square foot.

Mr. Quinn studied Liberal Arts at Quincy College and construction technology and small business management at Orange Coast College. He is a licensed General Contractor in the state of California.
